Avram Events - Case Studies Ipsco: 50th Anniversary Celebration Building our Communities Conference Tribute Dinner" Dr David Barnard

Case #3

PROJECT: University of Regina Tribute Dinner for Dr. David Barnard
CLIENT: President’s Office, University of Regina

“It was the best public dinner I've ever attended."

Our company was contracted by the President’s office to produce and manage a tribute dinner for Dr. David Barnard, outgoing President of the University of Regina.

Spending time in conversation with the client, we achieved a clear understanding of the mandate of the dinner, the particular elements that needed to be incorporated, and the specific wishes of Dr. Barnard. We carefully crafted a program and designed an atmosphere that would create a remarkable evening event.

We assisted with the development, management, and mailing of a guest list that included 650 senior business and political leaders, stakeholders and partners of the University, and family and friends of the retiring President. We also organized the seating plan and managed the logistical details relating to the menu, floral arrangements, and greenery.

Our vision for the event required members of the University's planning committee to venture outside their usual comfort zone. Although cautious, they put their faith in our extensive event planning experience and were not disappointed. As one member of the University's planning committee remarked following the event, "I appreciated the way you gently led me down paths I was reluctant to take."

In the end, our inspired event design and seamless management set the tone for a truly magical evening. Our ability to "read" the client and incorporate the right amount of staging and production not only achieved but exceeded the committee's original vision.

At the conclusion of the evening, the committee was overjoyed with the results. Feedback from dinner guests included comments such as, "It was the best public dinner I've ever attended."

"A great deal of the success of the retirement dinner for Dr. David Barnard was due to your skills in transforming a normally dull room into an aesthetic setting and to all of the work around the sound and lighting. I received many, many compliments.

As well, the detailed attention to tickets and planning of the program did not go unnoticed.

The comment I heard over and over again was that the bar has been raised for events in Regina. You were instrumental in making that happen."
